Lyndsey Ullom, East TN Artist

Lyndsey is a wildlife and portrait artist in Knoxville, TN. Her artwork features bold hues, calligraphic line work, and a passion for nature.

As a child she made portraits of loved ones and animals. Art became an identity. Human or animal, there’s something about a face. Animals connect us to our memories, stories, and Mother Earth. The otherworldliness of our planet also shows us the interconnectedness of all things, and it’s fulfilling when that resonates with her audience. She is most at home creating work that honors the Earth, tells a story, and shows us the inner beauty behind a face.

In Lyndsey’s art Realism takes a back seat to color and brilliance. She most often uses acrylic paint, india inks, pen, upcycled materials, and digital art. Lyndsey loves extracting the vividness available in these mediums. Creating is like working a puzzle backwards. She has learned to trust the process and allow for spontaneity and playfulness. The simplest of details can unlock and deepen the piece. She strives to work with her instinct, which she believe allows her to be more honest, striking and rich as an artist.

Lyndsey’s work has been shown in gallery shows in and around Knoxville and Nashville. She sells locally and online, while also doing commission work for clients.

If you’re looking for an artist, I highly recommend Lyndsey Ullom! She was amazing to work with—her thoughtful questionnaire ensures every detail about your pet is captured. I had a custom pet portrait commissioned of our beloved cat, Lucy, who passed away, and Lyndsey treated her memory with such care and respect. Everyone who sees the portrait comments on how perfectly she captured Lucy’s essence. The entire experience was meaningful and heartfelt. – Charissa Powell, Custom Pet Portait

How long do Art Parties normally last?

A 2-3 hour tailored group painting session with professional artist – Lyndsey.

What's an Art Party like?

Snack, sip cocktails or mocktails, and relax with friends as you are guided on how to create your very own painting.

Lyndsey creates an example piece alongside you and gives one-on-one instruction to anyone who is unsure of what to do! Bonus: Mistakes are not the villains! They are totally allowed and celebrated.

What do I need to do to host an Art Party?

The host of the party is responsible for snacks, beverages, and paper plates for your paint palettes. All other materials will be provided by Lyndsey (or if necessary, links will be sent for purchase ahead of your party)!

Do I need to be an artist to have an Art Party?

You already are an artist, we all are!

More about me – my teaching style is easy-going, lighthearted, but also informative.

I enjoy instructing both brand new “I’ve-never-picked-up-a-paintbrush” participants and super talented hidden artists. Art is for everyone!

What's the Art Party process like?

The process could get a little messy – think a bit of paint on your hands and possibly sleeves. While Lyndsey wears paint as if it’s an accessory, you are free to bring a shirt that you don’t mind getting a little paint on. Plus Lyndsey provides aprons for your group!

What sizes and subjects are available?

There are different size pieces offered along with subjects; you can select as a group what you are interested in painting together.

Three of the Doors are hanging in my office, and sometimes the conversation takes a turn when my colleagues catch sight of her paintings on the wall. Anytime a person is following their true vocation, their joy radiates out and offers inspiration for others to find a purpose that does the same. Lyndsey and her work offer that inspiration and add beauty to this exhausted world. – Krista Wright
